Oakland County, MI Public Records

Oakland County public records refer to books, documents, and papers generated or received by local government offices. For most, these are public properties available to residents. However, the right to access these public records does not encompass everyone. Some vital statistics, like birth records, though, are confidential. These may only be accessed by the individual or parent of the person named on the record. Death records, though, are available to the public in Oakland County. Both records can be accessed from the Clerk or Register of Deeds. Marriage records, though, are accessible to the public and can be obtained from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. Likewise, divorce requests are equally accessible from the County Clerk. The Office also maintains copies of property records from January 1964 to date.
